The CEO of the Romanian airline “Dan Air,” Matt Ian David, announced that the company plans to be the first airline in the European Union to offer direct commercial flights to Syria.
David stated via his LinkedIn account on Thursday, May 8, that Syria is in desperate need of being connected to other countries, not isolated, thus the company chose to respond and operate routes according to strict international safety and security standards.
Dan Air plans to provide four routes to Damascus International Airport from Bucharest, Frankfurt, Berlin, and Stockholm.
According to the company’s booking system, flights will begin from Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest to Damascus International Airport on June 15, with six flights per week using Airbus A320 aircraft.
Additional flights are scheduled to launch from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Frankfurt Airport, and Berlin Brandenburg Airport between June 15 and 17, with two flights per week for each.
